They let others know that you play alot of games but other than that no.

They aren't a currency or anything.
It is simply that little bit of respect you get when people look at your bio and see that you have 21000 gamerscore
So no, they aren't useful for anything

No it just shows that you have a lot of gamer points it might be currency one day though.

They make the game more fun by trying to complete objectives etc. It's like a competition between you and your friends to get the most

Bragging rights, an aim in the game. Allows people to know what games you played and how far you have gone in it

No, they pretty much just tell you how far you have gotten into the game so far. They aren't useful for anything accept for your gamerscore.

Usually, acheivement points represent rewards for things done in the hardcore way...it means you tried hard to do so
