Is the new update safe for modded 360s?
Is it ok to install the new Xbox 360 update if I have a modded 360? Will it brick or ban my 360?

Absolutely not, it is not safe at it! Updating it on a flashed DVD drive Xbox 360 will make the drive corrupted.

It doesn't make the drive corrupted, what it actually does it re-flashes it to a new firmware rendering your backups useless. But there is a new flashed firmware out now.
