Red Ring of Death Fix Kits?
Personally, this Red Ring of Death was a pain in my butt when we had our old Xbox 360. We had it sent back twice to have this same problem fixed. When it happened the third time we were going to buy the Kinect, so we the newer 360 with the Kinect and don't have this problem anymore.
My question is that my brothers Xbox 360 is down because of this stupid problem. I have seen these kits you can buy that fix this problem and just wondered if anyone has used them, and if so if they work? His warranty is up, so he's not worried about voiding the warranty. Thanks.

Thanks, I will let him know. At this point he is just sick and tired of it like we were. Who know, he has been wanting a PS3, maybe this will just prod him into getting one.

Re: Red Ring of Death Fix Kits?
I've never heard of these kits, but what i surely know is that the latest Xbox 360 consoles don't have the problem of the red ring of death so it's better if he changes his Xbox 360 with a newer one.

Re: Red Ring of Death Fix Kits?
We have the new Xbox 360 and don't have the problem anymore. My brother who has the problem has had his Xbox 360 for quite a few years. I am not sure how many years, but I know that the warranty is up and they refuse to fix it.

Re: Red Ring of Death Fix Kits?
The reason many 360s get the RROD is because the motherboard is warped a bit and prevents the CPU from making a solid connection with the socket. Blame Microsoft for sticking with cheap manufacturing.
The reason the towel trick works is because you are blocking off the cooling and allowing the Xbox to overheat. The extra heat causes the motherboard to become temporarily bend and re-establish the connection with the CPU properly. Sometimes it stays that way but often it just ends up warping again so it is only a temporary fix.
Any kit you buy would involve you having to open up your 360 which will void any warranty you have. However it is still a better alternative to sending it in to Microsoft since they will just send you a refurbished model in exchange which will end up having the RROD soon also.Automated Ad: I will promote your website with SeNukeX campaign for $20

Re: Red Ring of Death Fix Kits?
If I were in your situation, I'd go for the kit as well. There may also be local services around your way that can fix the RROD for cheap. I went this route and have never had the rings problem again. However, it is probably best to consider a new 360 altogether because I do notice that the newer games run strange on my old xbox 360.
