Do you use a gamer headset while playing Runescape?
I've been playing Runescape since at least June, maybe early July and was kind of getting bored with the game until i started talking to my Runescape gaming partner over my VOIP headset, using Google Voice chat while in the game.
It's SO much fun hearing his voice as we play and being able to talk to him. He's got some really good advice on playing Runescape. And, it's always a cool experience.
Plus, he is constantly goading me to say stupid things to other players. Just the other day, he spotted a really high level player at duel arena and said i should sneak up behind him and scream, 'n00b!'
It was so funny cause i actually tried but my mouse glitched and my character kept walking the wrong way. He was laughing so hard! It was actually funny.
Before we got the headset, he didn't seem half as funny cause it was all text chat, usually in the game via private chat. And, most times when someone says LOL in chat, they're not really laughing. But this way, it's for real.
I think he was getting bored with playing the game before voice chat too. Now that we can actually talk during the game, we go back a couple times a week and he never complains about having something better to do.
Guess i'm just wondering if anyone else uses voice chat or a headset to talk while playing Runescape.

Re: Do you use a gamer headset while playing Runescape?
I used to, but then I just told my brother to play with me in the dining room. Now we can talk each other and listen to the music without having to wear headsets. Besides, they kind of hurt my ears (I don't actually have a headset - only earphones). I wish I could play with friends though, but I can't because most of my friends do not play Runescape anymore.

Aww! Yeah, that sucks when friends stop playing Runescape. My best friend loves playing Runescape and got me into it, but he is really busy now with college classes (summer break is over) and he doesn't have much time to go there and hang out with me.
I quit Runescape for well over a month after i became a member but thankfully let my membership stand, so i was acrruing member loyalty points.
Just recently i got back into playing after helping form a clan in Runescape.
I'm really making efforts to push myself to meet new people in Runescape so i have other friends. And, some of those people are actually becoming friends outside Runescape, which is a nice change.
It's a good game, but it does help to know other people on the inside who you can game with.
Check out duel arena, world 40, that's always a good place to meet higher level players who might be willing to play other parts of Runescape with you.
Also, skilling such as woodcutting, etc. is another good way to meet other players who share common interest in the game.

I don't play Runescape with a gamer headset specifically. I usually just stick in any old pair of earphones or headphones and use those.
Usually I would listen to my own music when playing any game or surfing the net (Runescape inclusive), but occasionally I don't have it on and various Runescape tunes are playing in the background.

I don't use a 'gamer' headset, just a cheap small one that has good sound quality and isn't fancy looking. I like headsets that are light and don't hurt my head after wearing it for a few hours. Most high end headsets are a waste of money as they break easily and are waaaaaaaay too heavy.
I could never use speakers to game though. I can't tell where the enemies are without a headset on.

I don't think anybody would need a gamer headset if they weren't serious but i just use any headset and i'm fine with that as long as other people can hear me and i can talk.
But for runescape? I don't think it's worth it honestly. I mean like i'd understand if you needed a headset in LoL but runescape? No.

No, I use normal headset. I don't need those hardcore ones.

Continuing on with my point, this could be just me, but I don't like the look of headsets. They're really bulky (at least, I find that) and they make your head look really puffy, and I find that moderately embarrassing (although it depends what your friends' opinions on headsets are).

Re: Do you use a gamer headset while playing Runescape?
Maybe you missed my point. Gaming with any headset actually, even a gamer headset, or headphones or however you wanna say allows for hands free game play. There aren't any sounds in runescape i wanna hear in particular. I just like hearing my gaming partner talking to me as we play cause we don't live in the same location so it's not like he's in the same room. So maybe he's on Skype or whatever and i can hear him and it's cool to have that kind of interaction, especially considering MMO games like Runescape only have text chat between players. And, personally i think it adds a whole new fun dimension to the game.

Not really.
I try not to put my headset on because it hurts during long-play. Since runescape does not really require sound or chat I just use speakers.
