It wasn't a choice mandated by consumers, really, but it was instead foisted upon us by business and government interests who knew the broadcast signals spectrum could be exploited once the switch was made.
I agree with you ! but i think that even if Sony tries to release its PlayStation 4 now it really cannot do it, because it's still in the development process which we don't know how much it will take.

Honestly, the longer these things take to develop, the better. I don't understand why everyone wants new systems so soon. People moan about not having money as it is. Do people think the next set of systems is all of a sudden going to be cheaper?

Maybe if you can purchase high tech ones that costs the same as a new gen console. I saw one of the best graphic cards to day and it costs at least 300$. I won't every do that. I'll just get a console instead.

Another thing that comes to my mind is the power consumption. PC takes much more electricity than a game console. So I'll take the console instead of a gaming PC.

Right on. I don't, however, see this issue as being consumer-driven but rather one where a company, which obviously needs to keep its innovators busy, wishes to create demand when, in fact, there is none.

Another non-gaming example I can cite - DVDs. The dominant video format since the late 1990s, they really did not need to be replaced just yet by a new format because there are still plenty of folks with old-school analog TVs. Thankfully DVDs have not been phased out, but the upsurge of Blu-rays and their players (as well as increased sales of HDTVs) is going to make the disappearance of DVDs rather inevitable.

With cheap you get what you pay for.

I'll be happy with just ONE really good game system, even if brand new.

I don't have good luck with cheap stuff.

A friend of mine put together a really good Xbox 360 game system for super cheap. I would not be so lucky though, i'm sure. Just best to pay top dollar. At least for me.

You will definitely get a good one if anyone you know sells theirs. Or maybe try it out first before paying.

He says he is going to buy the Xbox 360 slim VERY soon so maybe he will give me this one. Fingers crossed!

Anyway, i think he's going to mod this one and leave the Xbox Slim untouched so he can play on Xbox Live without getting banned. Best of both worlds and that kind of thing.

When he talked to me about it, he was like, '... what do you think?' And, of course, i had to tell him that he's brilliant cause i know he's already made up his mind. Still i wouldn't mind being recipient of a really cool hand me down xbox 360 if he gets tired of this one and upgrades to a new one later on.

Hopefully you can get that old one. If not for free, maybe for a cheap price.
