Are you part of the Class Action lawsuit against PS3? Have you joined in the lawsuit against them for losing your data and identity theft?

Yea, I just read about this in the new GameInformer. I was wondering more about it, and what they are hoping to gain from it. I don't think anything of mine was stolen, at least I haven't noticed. I just wanted to check it out, see if they were successful or not.

What I find funny about all that is everyone seems to be mad at sony and not the actually people that committed the act. And I don't see how people can be mad enough to press a lawsuit. The information they "stole" is the same information that's already shown freely ALL OVER THE INTERNET. You can go to the internet white/yellow pages and see all that same stuff that was taken, freely.

Well from what I read, they are not suing because of what was stolen, but because there were other attacks that Sony let slip by before the major one. The lawsuit is stating that Sony knew about these attacks, and instead of increasing their security, they pulled it all back to protect their own information. This is why they are suing, because they knew about it and yet did nothing about it. That is what I got from it anyway. Tell me if I am wrong, I would love to know.

No. I can't really blame Sony for the intrusion into their system by, I believe, the lolzsecurity hackers earlier this year. Sure, maybe they could have hardened their network against hackers, but whenever one gets into these countermeasures-vs.-counter-countermeasures conflicts, it's basically futile, because as soon as Sony comes up with better security measures, the hackers figure out how to get past them.

I guess I would be if my identity was stolen in any way, but I don't purchase games over the PSN and I have never entered my real name on the network. And although it sucks losing your game data, I don't think it gives warrant for a group of people to sue the company. I mean, it wasn't intentional. Accidents DO happen. It's like trying to sue Microsoft because your laptop was hacked.

lol? You can't go into a lawsuit with Sony. Nothing wrong has happened and even if they lost your information for whatever that happened back then, they also gave out "insurance" granting you like 1 mllion dollars (i'm not even kidding) if you had your identity or information stolen. Everyone received the email and it was also on PSBlog

No, I'm not part of it and won't join it. They'll never win the lawsuit though, Sony are a major worldwide company that won't be sued by a few people angry at them.

I agree that the plaintiffs won't win; however, when you say "Sony are a major worldwide company that won't be sued by a few people angry at them" I think you actually mean to say that they can be sued (because the case is ongoing, I think) but that they can't win because Sony's legal arguments might be more persuasive than theirs. Just because a company is a major global entity doesn't give it ipso facto immunity from lawsuits.
