Default PSN Pass will limit you from reselling your game.

Looks like Sony is trying to implement something where you need a license to play online. This means, if you go buy a game used and then attempt to play it online, you'll need to buy a pass code. This is called PSN Pass and is complete BS if you ask me.

"We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities," the spokesperson said. "This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title.

"This is an important initiative as it allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio."

If you don't have a code to input, say if you purchase the game used, you'll have to buy one through the Store. It's unclear how much one of these PSN Pass codes will cost, however.

Sony said it will announce additional details at a later date.
I'll get rid of my PS3 and never buy another sony gaming product if this comes to pass as I buy all of my games used.

sony is going to see a huge decrease in online gamers and a drop in their userbase because of this.

This does not bother me much. Coming from the MMOG world where I pay subscription charges every month, I think it was only a matter of time before the console networks began using online authorization as a way to make sure they get revenue from everyone and but a big dent in the resale market.

As it stands now the Used Game market costs the game designers and console makers a ton of money, because games have a long enough shelf life that a single copy of a game is being actively used by multiple people.

That being said the cost for a single console video game has ALWAYS been too high and they should be lowered significantly, especially if they start doing stuff like this. There is no good reason why a premium console title with an online component which will undoubtedly have ways to generate more revenue should cost more than $25.00.

In a perfect world, retailers would pay a % of used game sales to the appropriate publishers. As it stands, retailers are making an absolute killing off the used market and are doing so by cannabilising the very industry they are a part of.

By preventing people from reselling their game, Sony is preventing people from selling games that they don't need. It is sad that people will limited resources will no longer get cash from their games.

PSN Pass Code is a rip off. We should fight it!
It's not just reselling a game that suffers, but everybody.
In a household with more than one gamer, EVERY additional gamer in the household have to pay for a new PSN Pass Code if they want to play the game.

I will not play along with Sony on this issue.
    And you shouldn't either.
Please, make your voice heard, and let Sony know they once again effed up!

    Cheers

If I wanted to pay-to-play I'd have bought an XBox 360.

But what can we do about it? When Sony release 'Resistance 3' the PSN Pass becomes a reality for all of us, whether we like it, or not. And the vast majority do not. Me included.

Do people really think they can recover the cost of the pass by reselling title access? That's like what 2-3 dollars?
