If they let you download a copy to your machine when you need it, even for replacement that would be ideal. Especially in event of game system epic fail.

Though I don't know if that is the situation.

That might influence whether or not i would want a back up hard copy for the money. I've had SO many games die on my computer after it quits on me. Lost a ton of money that way. So hard copy is important if replacement download not available for purchase.
I prefer not to have a disc when possible. The only bad thing is you can't trade it in or loan it to friends.

Some games are free to people who subscribe to PlayStation Plus, or offered for half price. Saying that, depending where you live there isn't much to choose from. The best thing to do if you're going to subscribe to PS+ is to do so on an American account, as they have more available on their weekly Store updates than anywhere else. Even if you don't live in America, you can still download and play PS3 games from the Store from anywhere in the world.

There are a couple of free games for anyone to download and play, whether or not you have a subscription to PS+. 'The Blue Toad Murder Mystery Files: Episode 1' is free to download, as is 'Back to the Future: Episode 1'. Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head which are free.

Other games to download vary price-wise. Regular PSN games can cost anywhere from £2.99 - £19.99. Retail PS3 games to download from the Store cost more than it would to buy the game in a shop or online. Mass Effect 2 is £49.99 and FIFA 12 is £53.99 (or somewhere around the £50 mark)

Some publishers must think we've more money than sense.

Not entirely true. Back in the PS1 days, we trade game discs and once we are finished, we return back the games. As easy as that.

The prices depend on how new they are, how long or deep they are, sales, etc. Most of the games that I've seen are around $9.99-$29.99 but there are alot that are cheaper and more expensive. If your on a budget I would recommend getting PSN exclusives, Minis, and PSOne Classics (these are the cheapest)

lol? What kind of question is that? That's like me asking "how many eggs are in the world?" And they don't do give-aways. They never have. Only on days like Playstation Anniversary have the gave out like 24 hr movie rentals and that's it. They're pretty stingy if you asked me.
