Re: Final Fantasy 13 - Hints
Defeating Shao long gui tip
I'm not 100% sure on the name but I am referring to the Strongest Adamantortoise after activating all of the circle stone missions.
Your going to need maxed out weapons and crystariums for this and even then its still risky. This is a summon meathod so you need a Sabotour leader that knows poison. Thats either vaniell or sazh. Vaniell's summon is better for stalling but Sazh has more damage potential. You need 2 strong attackers at least 1 with genji gloves.
Random instant stagger as an equipment bonus helps for later if you have it.
The point is to buff everyone with haste, bravery, faith, and fire element. 90% of the time it will stomp and kill someone.Since its not snow or fang lead you need to have the buffs on the leader at least before the first stomp. Summon the moment you see the leg raise.
This forces the turtle into fall status for as long as the summon is out. Switch to Sabotour and spam poison first. when it sticks debuff it with everything making slow the last thing. Rebuff yourself if you have time before the summon bar is up, if not switch to gestalt mode at the last second before the summon goes away.
This is where it gets tricky, what you want is to wait until the last second before activating a skill to let poison do its job.poison takes away a set % of hp based on the max hp of the target and you want to milk it for everything its worth. At the same time you want the stagger bar to fill up and get it as close to 999 as possable. Choose the skill with the least amount of cost to keep the poison going for the longest but don't wait too long or 1. you waste a turn and 2.the stagger bar resets.
When the stagger bar is about to run out you use the finisher for you summon for more damage based on how high the stagger bar was.95% of the time the turtle wont be dead yet so you get about 1 minute of the turtle being in a downed state before it gets up. Put slow and daze on it as soon as you can. If its dazed it won't move unless attacked. It also halts the timer for its stand up. Slow is what gives you the extra minute to try to take it down. Rebuff everyone now with the above mentioned buffs and proceed to stagger the turtle. When its staggered you only have about 30-40 good seconds to try to kill it. If it gets up just retry the battle and work on the timing of the process. If you have elixer or whatever item to restore tp you can use that but you will have to fight more turtles for the platinum and that item is scarse.
Anyway this was my process for turtle hunting, I hope it helps. There are other guides on youtube for the "I want to fight the turtle legit" people and you are welcome to them. I personally could never get maximum damage with my fang to fight it legit so the poison option was my only option.
Anyway good luck and happy hunting.Automated Ad: I will do 8 PR5 8 PR4 4 PR3 Low OBL Blog Comment for $19
