Thread: GTA IV fix?

My brother got GTA IV for his laptop, and his laptop is a pretty high end one, so I don't think it is below the minimum/recommended requirements. The specs are -
Core i7 2nd Gen @ 2 GHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM
2 GB Nvidia GT 540m graphic card

The problem is that the screen simply refuses to play in more than 800x600 graphics, even when he tries to change it in the settings. Also, the intro video isn't visible, and the textures in the game are really screwed up. When he is driving, he seems to hit invisible obstacles. So essentially, the game is pretty much unplayable.

Any solutions/fixes for this?

Well, it is about game. It just isn't well optimized.

Try to download latest Nvidia GT 540m drivers and install the newest DirectX and try again. If it doesn't work than I don't know how can you solve it.

It is just the game mate. You cannot fix it.

I can't believe it is so badly optimized that you can't increase resolution more than 800x600..

I played on my monitor resolution which is 1360x768 but it goes to 35 fps max.... :/

Oh God.. I never had any problems with GTA IV fortunately. I played and and completed the game on high details and resolution.

If you didn't get it. 35 fps is good. Also forgot to mention, when I turn off shadows, it goes to 45.
