Anyone ever make their own games?
I am taking this game making class at school and I find it quite interesting. Making a big game is quite complicated and takes time. I'm just wondering if anyone here has made any games or anything. It's pretty easy to learn the basics so if you are interested, definitely take a course or something!

I usually keep myself in creative writing. That's what I do well with.

Nah. Never but I am planning to make one soon though... hehe... But I think it will be pretty difficult depends on what type of game you want to make.

Re: Anyone ever make their own games?
I used to make text adventures and my own little games through RPG Maker 2000. I never finished any, but for a few years I would work on one every day after school.

Re: Anyone ever make their own games?
When I was still in my 20s and I happened to know someone who was into programming, I attempted to collaborate on a "home-brewed" Star Trek computer game, just to see if it could be done. This was in the late 1980s so we didn't have many of the tools available now, but we did begin to design a GUI for the controls which ran our starship and figured that we'd need a random number generator for various game-related functions. However, my friend and I never got past those preliminaries, so we abandoned the project and pretty much forgot about it.

Re: Anyone ever make their own games?
I am doing computer engineering, so I have some knowledge about programming, and the GUI at the same time. A group of 4 guys including me were doing some tinkering with whatever knowledge we had about Flash, and we kind of made this game in which you are supposed to make a block rotate and move so that it stand on its end at a specific position. Not really exciting, but when it is something that you yourself have made, it feels good.

Re: Anyone ever make their own games?
A friend of mine is a game designer and pretty much this is what he does ALL day every day. Most of his day is meetings and creative work, but there's also a chunk of time he says is boring and spends that part on Google + chat, talking to friends. Must be nice to be so smart you can only use a piece of your brain for such highly technical work and the other part for socializing and still get paid.
