Wii for exercise
I am just wondering if any of you have a Wii that you use for fitness? By this I mean instead of hitting the gym do you turn to your WII? I think that you most certainly could. You can get a great workout from the Wii just as well as going to the gym.
I have had a lot of fun bowling and hulahooping. Granted all my calories burned were not from the exercise but from laughing. But that is ok as well. Any way to burn off those calories is fine by me.
So do you use your Wii in place of the gym if you can?

Re: Wii for exercise
I don't have Wii, though a local friend of mine does and i was able to try out some of the games. Can't say that i actually burned any calories. I get a better work out from turning on some music and dancing. That's a real calorie burner.
If i really wanted to lose weight, i'd join a circuit training gym like Curves for Women. I was a member there was and got into seriously awesome shape.
Might do it again.
As for Wii, probably not.
My forum admin uses Wii sometimes and says it helps work up a sweat but she hasn't really lost weight yet. So i am not really into the idea of plunking down so much money just so i don't have to work out for real.

Re: Wii for exercise
I think it just depends on how much you use it and how hard you work out. If you used it a lot and really put a lot of effort into it, I could see some losing weight.

Re: Wii for exercise
Of course, that's probably true for any kind of exercise. And, it mirrors what a personal trainer told me about ten years ago. She said, you can slack off and not really put any effort into the exercise and you won't get any results. Or, you can push your body to the point where you're sweating and tired and your muscles ache and you'll lose weight and actually get toned and fit. And, i used that advice to shed 30 pounds. Kept it off for many years too even after i quit the gym. It was good advice. So long as a person puts their entire effort into the Wii fit games, they will see a benefit but it's still exercise, still have to do it long enough and often enough to see a weight loss payoff. Can't just do five minutes of Wii a day and get weight loss results. So as you say...

Re: Wii for exercise
Most people turn to the Wii for fitness because it's more convenient, but they also put a lack of effort in. This is why there are many people out there saying that the Wii is bad for exercise, when really, it's them that's not putting in the hours to lose the weight or become as fit as they would like.

I can't go to the gym so sometimes i do that but i haven't used the wii in a long time. Other then that i do sit-ups and other exercises on my own whenever i think i need to exercise.

Like what? I mean, okay, opinions are kinda different mate, but for me, Wii will never be as good as sony or microsoft ones.

Well as I already said, Wii is good in what it is meant for. You can't really compare the graphics and quality of Wii and Xbox/PS3.
