Thread: History of Super Mario

Reinvention is the life blood of gaming. Look at Donkey Kong, how far it's come from a pixelized character in the first game to the 3D thing it is now. The graphics and character development (as in appearance) are miles better than twenty years ago.

True. Who would have thought that those characters will become popular in years time.

That's what separates great games from decent to good games.

Hopefully, the game maker will try to anticipate what the gamer wants (and not just what they think will make money for them) in the game and provide it.

Most games nowadays carry big names from known franchises to be a sure hit. Imagine games like Final Fantasy XIII was not called Final Fantasy XIII. Do you think it will succeed?

Well, did you noticed that all good games are sequels to another good game. Rarely new titles come out and are hyped all over the world.

First time I played Mario was when I was a kid, like 10 years ago. Not so old now, and I still enjoy playing the NES version of Mario on my phone.

Yeah sure they do, but they need to release something new.

I guess it's like with cartoons.
When you look at the first versions of Disney, the cartoons of our childhoods, they were great. I can watch them again and again.
But what I see from Disney today, uh.. Terrible cartoons.
