A steampunk game called City of Steam
Hi everyone. We Mechanist Games are currently developing a BROWSER-BASED MMORPG named CITY OF STEAM, and still on the phase of adding and removing features. The game is an industrial age fantasy, set in a mechanical world which is full of clockworks, steamworks, combustion ect.
The game is filled with industrial elements, not only the scenes but also the UI. Personally, the characters in it are not cute but cool. And the graphics are awesome for browser-based game.
And Now we need your suggestion and advice. Will you like the genre? And what features are you looking for in any new games including our City of Steam?

Re: A steampunk game called City of Steam
It's great to see good games come to life by starting out as a dream. It looks good and with time, it looks like it would be something I would enjoy playing. I love the Steampunk genre (along with Cyberpunk) and to see fresh faces bring something like this to the table makes my cynical mind go soft for a while. Hey if your team ever needs a writer I am open and willing to help.

Looks awesome so far! I have been in to the steampunk genre for the past 10 years now and it's really nice to see a game developing in this genre. It looks very original and I hope to see a change with this mmo. Now if you will excuse me, i'm gonna go ahead and take a better look at this project, i'm definitely interested

Re: A steampunk game called City of Steam
Hey guys, so sorry that I disappeared for some time. We were engaged in GDC China a week ago.
Regarding gameplay, what kind are you seeking for?
Do you like PVP, large scenery, fierce group combat?
Do you only want to relax yourself and be your own hero?
City of Steam uses a combination of large public scenes and smaller privately instanced dungeons. Explore at your own leisure, alone or with a team of friends. Also we have community systems.

Re: A steampunk game called City of Steam
Someone said that our game is kind of Diablo style. Diablo has profound influence on so many years. But have you been tired of this style and looked forward to new blood?
In our game, you might find something similar and something totally different.

Re: A steampunk game called City of Steam
Here’s a look at the common room of the house that will, sometime after Alpha, be at the center of the City of Steam experience. While each individual character will have private, race-specific quarters accessible by the stairs, complete with quest-giving family members and friends and such, all of the player characters in your account will spend their off-hours hanging around here. You might come home to find your Orc Warder peering in the fridge for a snack, or your Riven Channeler curled up on the couch. If you want to switch to another character, simply find wherever that character NPC is lounging and say so.
It should be clear that the place is a bit of a fixer-upper. Everything else can either be upgraded outright, will improve according to common room quests, or just change naturally as you reach milestones in the game. Other elements of appearance will respond to maintenance; stay away too long and you might find your common room overrun with clockroaches.
