Thread: Should I get Star Wars: The Old Republic?

I have need to play some new, good and expendable MMORPG. Recently I heard some very positive reviews from beta testers (I have a huge SW fan friend who had a chance to be beta tester and told me it was immense!), and I was wondering, since it is Bioware's RPG (BioWare - SW: KOtOR 1&2, Mass Effect, Dragon Age...), it should be HC. Still, I'm not sure how will they cope with MMO's.

I don't want to waste my money on a game that I will never play and even pay monthly. Should I try?

If you like the Star Wars mythology and characters involved, then i would say go for it. But you have to really love it especially if you're paying a recurring monthly fee. With Runescape i have 2 paid monthly membership accounts. You don't pay that much for 2 accounts unless you love a game, though it does help that each account is only $6.00 a month, i'm sure your game would cost more.

I was really hyped about the game, but a friend of mine who played the game said that it's nothing special. He played less then a month and went back to WoW.

There's always good hype surrounding these kind of games. Wish that same money spent on hype and marketing would be put into the actual game. Though i haven't tried the game yet, so i can't speak to the quality or lack there of.

My friend got it and is hooked but he is a massive SW fan. I tried it and I'm glad I didn't spend money cause it is still unbalanced and servers are shit. Maybe in a couple of weeks things will get better.

You don't get very many benefits unless you sign up for the collectors edition.

I guess not, but that is kinda bad.

What extra stuff do you get with the collectors edition ?

Isn't the collectors edition well over $100 US $$$?
