Re: Buying gaming PCs
Because memory chips are made with different speeds and different latencies. That is much more important than their capacity. It's just that their capacity is what tends to be marketed more for some reason. 1333mhz is faster than 1066mhz so that chip will be faster, even if it's a lower capacity than a 1066mhz chip.

Re: Buying gaming PCs
video card, ram, processor are the priority. If you are on a tight budget, getting a great processor and buying a not so good video card, and ram can last you for a year with playing the current games in low to mid settings then just buy an upgrade or the ram and video card is not enough anymore to play current games.

Re: Buying gaming PCs
Before buying a gaming PC, you should check out the recommended system requirements of games you are going to buy for it and the average amount of processor speed, RAM, hard-drive space and graphics card. In the future, there will be games which may require heavier amounts of requirements. I recommend you to get a graphics card with at least 1GB memory and Shader Model 5.0. And if you purchase and download games from sites like Direct2Drive, GOG.com and Steam, I would recommend 2TB or more hard-drive space and an external hard-drive with 1TB space at the least. I would recommend to opt for a x64 PC.

Re: Buying gaming PCs
2TB is a bit much honestly. Especially with a 1TB backup drive in addition to it.
I have a 500GB drive and it does me just fine. The only reason I'd need more than that is if I wanted more space to record raw video footage of games which takes a lot of space and then I'd need like a 750GB or 1TB drive.
How is the average gamer going to fill up 3000 Gbs of data? Games are not that big. The only thing that could fill up that much space is a massive high definition movie collection.

Re: Buying gaming PCs
Thanks for that. I'll get one later.
Kinda agree with you there. My current HDD is only 350GB and works just fine (with only a single game installed at the moment).
I do have lots of movies/tv episodes here but I regularly move them on an external 1.5TB HDD. Bought that a year ago and I haven't been able to fill 1/3 of it.
Well, that would also work well if you are a download heavy person. I mean, downloading movies every now and then,
I know I'm kinda like that, as I'm getting weekly shows. It does fill up much space. So far 1.5TB is just fine as of the moment. If I need more, I'll just buy one. Maybe after a year or so.
