Thread: Why does RAGE suck so bad?

I got Rage from ID for my xbox 360 and I hate it. It sucks worse than any other FPS I've seen!

It puts you in an open world but every task crams you into a cave or house that has very limited walls and a very linear path. The guns blow, shooting blows and everything about the game blows.

There's a difference between raging a game and giving critique. You can't just say everything in RAGE blows because you said so. Give reasons, show more detail and people will at least further examine your reasoning.

Because Bethesda Softworks wanted to make money so they had id make a generic shooter that steals all of it's concepts from other more successful games to give them a product to sell for 60 bucks.

This is why you have to read reviews and be critical of the games you buy. There are plenty of shooters made today that are crappy and designed just to make an easy dollar off of gamers and the only reason gamers buy them despite how much they suck is because they fall for the marketing hype. The more you buy these games the more you are telling the publisher that it's okay for them to put out crap games since you'll just buy them anyway or pre-order them.

The gaming industry is designed to make every single game look amazing and awesome, but as we both know that is far from true so you can't rely on marketing hype to determine whether or not you buy a game. This includes interviews with developers etc, not just commercials.

I read good and bad reviews on everything before i buy including games. And, just one bad review is enough to put me off a game, and it takes at least 10 additional glowing reviews before i start even thinking about purchasing that game again.

I played it a little, didn't really stayed with it for a long time.

Well there are a lot of reviewers out there who like to play devils advocate and try to give a bad review no matter what by nitpicking every single last detail in a game even if most gamers wouldn't particularly care about such minor flaws.

There are a lot of reviewers out there who paint Skyrim and Minecraft as some of the worst games ever made, but really they are just trying to go against the popular opinion intentionally and often they don't understand why people like Skyrim or Minecraft in the first place.

In other words, a bad review should contain legitimate reasons for why the game is bad that you consider to be bad also. One mans bad game might be another mans masterpiece.
