How do you pick the games you buy?
How do you pick the games that you buy? I have a hard time sometimes picking games. I like the classics such as Pacman, so any game like that I am willing to try. Yet they are not all created equally.
And fighting games are one of my favorites. Love Tekken. I could play it until I had to stop. And Mortal Combat is pretty cool as well. So if any game is like this I will try it out.
However I have a bought a few stinkers before. Have you ever bought a stinker before?Automated Ad: I will expand your DROPBOX to 18GB via 32 Referrals within 72 hours for $11

I pick games based on the plot. There are games that have an interesting plot. And of course, the graphics or art cannot be left behind.

I read reviews, watch youtube and sometimes even rent games before I buy them.

Not sure about others, but i would rent games from a place like Gamefly cause they provide game rentals delivered to the home for a very affordable cost. There might be some sites where you can download a game rental. Can't be sure there are any local shops that specialize in game rentals but if there were, i'm sure they would do brisk business with gamers.

Before buying any game i make sure to read reviews as well as watching the trailer and the gameplay, then i decide if the game is worth buying or not.

Re: How do you pick the games you buy?
I choose games based on whether or not they match my non-gaming interests; I love the Star Wars film series, for instance, so naturally games based on them will at least pique my curiosity.
I am also into most things military or history-based, so strategy, simulations and war games are also game themes I look at when I purchase PC games.
As for stinkers, sure. I have bought quite a few games that look fantastic in the packaging but are very hard to play and have lousy graphics, or - in some cases - have great graphics but are insanely difficult to play.

Re: How do you pick the games you buy?
I read reviews of it (peer reviews, not editorial reviews most of the time) and usually wait for it to be on sale. I never pre-order and never buy on release day. People who do that are gambling against the odds. Anyone can see the patterns of release day problems and general crappy games making pre-orders feel like a waste of money.
I also only buy multiplayer games usually.
