Default Do you do digital downloads?

My initial reaction to digital downloads was one of disgust. It always seemed to me that digital distribution saved publishers money and didn't provide the customer with anything in return - games were usually the same price as their retail counterparts and lacked a physical package and manual (which look great on a shelf).

Lately though I've been getting a lot through Steam. Their seasonal sales usually have very aggressive pricing, and I like the fact that I can download my games to any computer and just log in to steam to start playing...no more lost CDs.

    What are your thoughts?

I love doing the digital downloads so long as they store a copy of the download online for me to download in the future, just in case my current copy gets corrupted.

Sure I do. Anyway, what Dardaigh said is true.

I always like physical copies more and that's why I don't really like this, but it's easier to get games this way.

Only thing, I think they could lower the price. it's not like you paying the cd with the manual.

Have lost many valuable downloads when my computer died, games included, especially when i didn't have the disc of the game.

I have always had more phsysical copies than digital ones, often in the ratio of 5:1 or so. The overall bandwidth we have in our country is low compared to what you get elsewhere for about the same price, so I think that is one concern when it comes to digital downloads.
Apart from that, the fact that the prices are the same does not really matter much too me. It is the same product, just sold to you in a different manner.

If I can I always prefer to have a physical copy, but I do buy digital copies as well. It depends on a lot of factors. Often I buy digital copies, because they are on a promotion with a lot lower price

As you say, downloads use up your bandwidth. Actually doing anything online such as watching hi def movies (Netflix), downloading movies/music or downloading games or even talking on Skype will eat up your bandwidth quick.
