Should I get and beat Diablo 2 before Diablo 3?

Don't listen to the graphics elitists. Old school graphics are okay too.

I think that if you get D2 and beat it it will help you understand the storyline behind D3 and will therefore help you enjoy it more if you don't skip all the dialogue.

I'd say its worth playing through, even this late on.

It's a very fun game, and it's better to buy Diablo 2 for cheap and realize you don;t like it, then it will save you from buying Diablo 3 at full price and not enjoying it as much as you thought you would.

It is never too late for Diablo 2. And I am serious. Although 3rd part doesn't follow up to it's prequel, it is still worth playing one of the best hack and slash rpgs ever made. It's not all about the graphics, and there is something in those old games that is lacking in modern. Too much "make up" now.
