Re: Game for Kids
My daughter is eight years old and she loves playing Minecraft and Runescape and assorted other games on the computer. She's also very active outside the house. And, i like to keep it that way cause it's just so easy for her to spend hours in front of the computer. But amazingly, she still asks to go out to the park almost daily. And, that's good for her health, to stay active and interact with other children her own age.

Great. You raise your daughter in a good way. Some parents just dump kids in the room with console/pc/tv so they don't bother too much about them.

Re: Game for Kids
Minecraft is brilliant for young kids. Makes them creative, responsible and aware.

Re: Game for Kids
Yeah. That could do. Also any puzzle games or something like that.

Re: Game for Kids
Yeah. Kids should play many puzzle games, and not too much action and violence games while they're young. Later, they should start with adventures and arcades, and then action.

Re: Game for Kids
You're sweet to say so. I'm kind of obsessed with making sure she gets plenty of variety experiences including offline and online. That way she looks back and remembers her childhood as being special and sweet. When she games online with Minecraft, sometimes she games by herself but lately i have been playing Minecraft as well so we take turns mining, building on our house. This is a fun shared game. We were able to find a private server and now with a friend have formed a faction, so we have our own land. We've been building there for the past few days. So much fun!
I keep her schedule very flexible so there's plenty of room for fun and learning.
She chunks her game time, so it's not just ten or fifteen minutes. She might not play Minecraft for three days and then spend three hours playing. Or, spend an hour in Runescape with my character Dardaigh, training on hill giants or doing something else fun.
Usually it depends on the weather as to whether she can go outside or not, being cold now and rainy a lot. But usually on sunny days she can go play in the park/playground with other children her age.
Very much agreed! My daughter had to learn the concept of 'no griefing', or not destroying someone else's work. She's learning cooperation and community skills being part of a faction now. You have to add to the group, gather and share resources; think of others and not just yourself. These are very important lessons for a child.
