What is cosplay?

Non-gamers always get confused regarding cosplay. I myself thought is was some kind of fetish or something similar.

A cosplay is dressing up in an attempt to replicate a favored character as closely as you can.

The original of cosplay

When mentioned about cosplay it may first impressed us by an imagine of a series of Japanese cartoon or 3D character, by wearing kinds of costumes and do a exaggerated make up, we dress ourselves like the figure in the cartoon to gain more fun, and this is what we called Cosplay.
Mostly when we talking about the original place of cosplay we may all indicate Japan, it is partial correct if we judge only from the modern cosplay theory. However if we hold a deep view on cosplay we may found that its history is originated from many centuries ago in Western American. We all know that in 1000BC. When people in Greece do the fete they will wear strange clothes for the whole ceremony, they successfully cosplaied the existence of the disciple of the God.
