Introduction
Theiving is a member only skill, if you are not a RuneScape member, you will not have access to this skill
Thieving is one of the more varied skills in RuneScape, with multiple options to train it. While most of these methods are not efficient, they are still fun to do if you are the sort of player who enjoys playing all of the content the game has to offer, with some bonus exp and items. It was also one of the first 3 member skills to be introduced into the game, with herblore and agility, for those of those into RuneScape history. This guide will show you the different ways to get high levels in thieving, with training methods and training locations for all of them, as well as the best set ups, and benefits of thieving.

Rob some men
At level 1, your only "real" method of training is to pickpocket men or women (just called "man" or "woman"). These can be found all over RuneScape, popular places include Lumbridge, Edgeville and Catherby. Pickpocketing these will give you a basic idea of how to pickpocket. Right click the man or woman and click pickpocket, which will result in either a successful pickpocket (providing you with exp, and 3 gp) or a failed pickpocket (losing 10-50 life points, depending on what you are pickpocketing, and no exp) This makes thieving a viable way to make a bit of money without having to sell anything. Pickpocket men or women till you reach level 5 thieving, or if you want to continue pickpocketing afterwards, pickpocket them until you reach level 10 thieving

Welcome to the city of thieving (level 5-37)
Ardougne, the city of thieving is going to be an important place in your training until roughly level 40,or even beyond depending on where you decide to train. A large portion of the thieving training methods can be found here, so you might as well get used to the city, enjoy yourself, do a few quests, if that's the sort of player you are. Or if your not, head straight into the centre of the city, and get into some cake stealing, from either of the two stalls. If have a low combat level (<40) the guards could become a problem here, avoid combat with them at all costs. The aim of stealing from stalls, is to click the stall, while no guards, or the stall owner are looking. In a market place as busy as Ardougne, this can be quite hard to accomplish, so having a freind or stranger kill the guards can greatly help. there is a 100% success rate as long as no guards, or the stall owner can see you, making this less frustrating than pickpocketing, for some people. At level 20 you can start alternating between the silk and bakers stalls, to increase the amount of exp gained (drop the silk, it has little use)

Thieving quest (30-37 for just ONE quest)
If you have 30 level thieving, and have the means to defeat 2 level 70+ bosses, then the quest "The Feud" is probably the best way for you to get to level 37 thieving, from level 30. It is quite an easy quest, however if the need arises I will write a mini-guide for it.

Farmers (10/37-38)
Farmers give you slightly more coins than men and women when pick-pocketed, and are a viable option for those who wish to train their pickpocketing skills before level 38(master farmers) some food will be needed, so bring an inventory full of whatever food you can get your hands on, and get pickpocketing. Farmers are found only in a few places in Lumbridge, Ardougne, and a few places in between.
There is not much to say about farmers, as you should only be pickpocketing them for about an hour before moving onto master farmers, with about 1000 coins filling your backpack.

Cor Blimey, mate! What are ye doing in me pockets?(level 38-40/50)
This is the phrase you should get used to, you will be hearing it a lot. Master farmers are found north of Ardougne, and at Draynor market have quite a high failure rate for pickpockets, and are a mildly bad way of training thieving. However, the amount of money they provide is considered to be very good, as you pickpocket valuable seeds of them, such as Torstol seeds (worth around 220k, and you get these once every 2-3 hours) Ranarr seeds (worth 15-20k, and you receive these every 5 or so minutes) and snapdragon seeds(worth 60k, you receive one once every half hour or so) this is excluding the slightly lower cost pickpockets, which add up into the thousands and even millions depending on time done. However, it is much better to leave these at level 40, and come back later on in the guide, where you will make much more profit.

Taking from the guards (level 40-50)
If you don't want to continue on master farmers to level 50, do guards instead. They are found in nearly every major city (most notably, Ardougne) and give coins when pick-pocketed, which may be preferable to seeds for some players (especially if the seeds are crashing) level 40-50 will take a bit of time, approximately 4 or 5 hours, and will yield around 20k gp, a nice bonus for some. At level 50 you'll want to complete the buyers and cellars quest, and the first sub quest. These quests are painfully easy, you shouldn't need a guide.
