Do you still play Arcade Games?
I can not remember the last time I played an arcade game. I grew up during the Arcade craze when arcades actually existed and arcades were in every corner store and bar around. I wonder if anyone here is still playing arcade based games. Are there any new games out there? I used to love when I was little and used to go to Las Vegas with my parents. Every casino had an arcade and my parents would give me cash to go to the arcade and play games all day while they gambled.
The best part is some of the arcades, like the one in Caesar's Palace, had the newest games available anywhere. They had games that you would not see in your local arcade for months. So it was amazing to see all these games before they became popular and known. Ultimately the consoles killed off the arcades when they equaled and then surpassed the experience. Do you still ever play arcade games in public? The reason I ask about being in public, I know some people have old games at home, but I am more wondering about games in the wild.

Re: Do you still play Arcade Games?
Unfortunately, Arcade games are a dying breed. They closed our last arcade a couple of years ago. I think the closet I've gotten to an arcade game since is when I take my kids to Chuck-e-cheese. I've bought a couple of arcade style games but it's just not the same.

I used to play Arcade games a lot when i was a kid, but now i rarely play them in the street because i really don't have many opportunities to play them outside with friends.

Re: Do you still play Arcade Games?
I have not been to an arcade in years; there used to be one pretty close to my house back in the early 1980s that was called Pirates (I think it was part of a big chain) which not only had a huge indoors arcade but also a go-cart race track out in back. That's where I first played Atari's Star Wars: The Arcade Game, which I believe was the first game to use actual sounds and dialogue from Episode IV: A New Hope with early-1980s video game graphics.
Close by, in what used to be called Midway Mall, there was also a smaller arcade called Fun-o-Rama. They had that Star Wars game there too, as well as Afterburner by Sega.Automated Ad: I will do Great KEYWORD Research for $5

Re: Do you still play Arcade Games?
Maybe she is new to gaming and/or posting? Hopefully we'll get a reply of some kind soon.
I seem to remember that I used to play some very early (mid-1970s) video games when I was a kid. One that I remember vividly (except for the darned game's name) was one that had a simulated speargun that you "aimed" at this animated version of a shark that was "swimming" toward you on a screen. It was kind of cool, actually; it had a sort of "force feedback" when you shot a "spear" at the shark, and if you were good enough and hit the target, the fish would bleed and die.
If you watch 1975's Jaws, the arcade game makes a cameo appearance in one scene where the "kill the shark" frenzy in Amity is at its peak; you can see some kids actually playing it!

Re: Do you still play Arcade Games?
I still go to the arcade whenever I visit malls that have them and play Drum Mania and Guitar Freaks. Speaking of those, I should make a thread for these games.
